Daniel rondDaniel Kotz is an epidemiologist and Professor in General Practice with main focus on  Addiction Research and Clinical Epidemiology at the Institute of General Practice at the  Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany. He is also affiliated with Maastricht  University, University College London, and the University of Edinburgh, UK. His main  research areas are nicotine and tobacco addiction, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,  and methodology and reporting in clinical epidemiology. He has published his work in  leading journals in the categories general medicine, respiratory medicine, and public  health/epidemiology. He is Senior Editor of Addiction and Editorial Board member of the  Journal of Clinical Epidemiology. Jochen rondJochen Cals is a General Practitioner and Professor at the Department of Family Medicine,  with his research embedded in the research programme Optimising Patient Care within  the Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI) at Maastricht University, the  Netherlands. His research focusses on Effective diagnostic testing in general practice.  He has published work in The Lancet, BMJ, JAMA and Annals of Family Medicine.  He has a particular interest in scientific writing, and is section editor at Nederlands Tijdschrift  voor Geneeskunde. Beyond his love for scientific writing he writes a newspaper column for  University newspaper Observant.
